Topeka LULAC Senior Center
ABOUT US
The mission of the Topeka LULAC Multipurpose Senior Center, Inc. is to promote the socialization, independence and mobility of seniors and those with physcial limitations in the Topeka metropolitan area. The Center was organized in 1973 by members of the LULAC Council #11071 to assist the Hispanic elderly of the Oakland community. It soon expanded to serve the total Topeka community and began to grow and prosper. The LULAC Senior Center was incorporated in 1985 and received its nonprofit status later that year.
The Center currently provides transportation for those who are sixty years old or older and Americans with disabilities living in the Topeka metropolitan area. Transportation can be provided to and from the Center, to medical appointments, the grocery store, and to social and educational activities. The goal is to provide participants with access to healthcare and getting to their appointments on time, a nutritional meal and social interaction, which improves quality of life and social well being. No fee is charged for transportation, however, a donation of $4.00 per one way trip is suggested.
